I am Dr. Janet Gentleman-Ingersoll and my husband, Tim, breed, raise, love and nurture Authentic Australian Labradoodles with love and educated intention so our precious babies never know unlove or neglect. The benefits to you are many.
Our Sandcastle Labradoodles begin with careful breeding. The parents pass rigorous health testing and the lineage is scrutinized to prevent in-breeding. We attend to every birth-we were even included in a caesarean section during Covid when technicians would not come in to assist-we learned a lot! Fortunately, C-sections are rare for Sandcastle Labradoodles.
Our puppies are born, live, and grow up in our home. The first two to three weeks of their life my husband and I take shifts sleeping while the other ensures the puppies each get a fair and equal opportunity to nurse. The other main goal is to protect them from momma laying on them. On day 3 we begin ENS (early neurological stimulation). By week 4 we introduce puppy culture to increase curiosity, exploration, and large muscle development. We also introduce potty training to them. Stage 1 potty training consists of a grassy “pee pad” in a large play pen type puppy crate. It sits at one end while the other end is for bedding and toys for sleeping and playing.
Then, at 6 weeks they begin crate training. Crate training serves many purposes, none of which are discipline. Crates, at this point, are meant to be their safe space and introduction to separation from their litter mates. They sleep in their crate and eat in their crate so we can observe their eating habits. Eating habits influence how a puppy is trained-some are food motivated, others work for praise.
Another important aspect of crate training is that it is next level, stage 2 potty training-the puppies are taken outside to a grassy area every two hours around the clock to potty-they always go. If they wake-up and stir at all before 2 hours has passed, we take them out. As they grow, their bladders grow and self-control increases, and the time increases to as much as every 6 hours by the time they are 8-weeks-old. At night they are immediately returned to their crates. In the daytime we work with them, socializing, supporting their muscle development, and stimulating curiosity and problem solving with play.
By 8-weeks-old they are ready to go home: However, if we observe shining stars in temperament: socialization, and demeanor, we will hold onto them a few additional months for basic obedience training and preparation for a home that prefers an older puppy out of the early chewing and teeth cutting stage-often an older adult. These puppies are still playful yet have calmed some as they begin to learn greater self-control along with “come”; “sit”, “lay”, and beginning leash training-walking on a leash, not heel which is an advanced obedience training behavior. These older puppies are also introduced to the bells on the door to go outside, and “sit” prior to entering/exiting through a door or gate.
All the while, throughout their life, they are introduced and socialized to various ages and sizes of people and animals in a safe and loving environment. They know only love, kindness, and care. All of this combined is what makes our Authentic Australian Labradoodles cost what they cost AND worth even more. Our time and effort has value and adds value to our doggies.
We sincerely hope that you choose a Sandcastle Authentic Labradoodle, but whatever decision you make on your new family member, may he/she bring you years of joy and laughter.
